Brooklyn Lager

First, I heard on 93 Rock here in Miami on the way home something about the Best Damn Brew Review, and then something about a preview today at Total Wine (my branch), but shit I can't make either. Another time I guess. Nothing better than sampling beers. 93 Rock and Total Wine I am figuring are sponsors of the event. I hope that Store Manager Jerry Felinczak Jr. will have other events and invite me. I hope especially as I am becoming their biggest fan and regularist customer.

Anyway, I am remanded to my home for the night. So I may as well try this Brooklyn Lager from the Brooklyn Brewery that's alone in the fridge. I've had it many times when living in New York, but none recently.

Pleasant beer, not too thick and pretty refreshing. Good hops which are not overwhelming (which is not necessarily a bad thing), crisp, fresh scent. The label says Pre-Prohibition Style, so I guess it's like great-great grandpa used to make in his cellar for his gambling buddies. Whatever, that's what pre-prohibition drums up in my mind. Am I to assume that there's a post-prohibition style? No way, these dudes never stopped brewing the stuff in the first place. That's what I think. No proof, one way or the other.

Update 8/13/2010: The Brooklyn Brewery was kind enough to send me the nutritional content for this beer. 5.2% ABV; Per 12 fl. oz.: 170 calories, 2.0g protein, 16.3g carbohydrates, 0.0g fat.
