Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout

One of my friends from the Aleuminati (damn I have a hard time remembering how to spell that, could be the beer), John LeMasney, who also writes the BeerCritic blog, asked me my impressions on a few beers. One of them was Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout by Great Divide Brewing Company in Denver, CO.

So I picked up a bottle, a big 22 Oz. bottle, at Total Wine on the way home from work last night. Great recommendation, great beer. What a great guy John is! Let's see about the other two he suggested :)

This beer has a kick-butt aroma of chocolate and maybe burnt or roasted nuts of some kind. The taste is unbelievable. Rich chocolate and at the same time spicy cinnamon. Very smooth and a bit frothy, whatever that means. I really like that it is a bit sweet as that mostly masks a high 9.5% alc/vol. Don't get me wrong, that alcohol flavor is great, but being subtly hidden from view is also great.

Now, the Yeti, on the other hand. I'm pretty sure most of you know that isn't real. And sorry to the rest of you. The Yeti is in the same box as the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

Friends, try this beer. You will like it!
