Rogue Chocolate Stout

My wife just left with the kids to go to a neighbor's house, and she wanted to take some beers with her because she's always going there empty-handed. So on came the ensuing argument--of course I didn't want her to take any to the ad hoc party that I wasn't even attending. Then when I gave her 3 beers from the garage, a few Yeunglings and a Dos Equis, she was pissed that I gave her the warm ones. But I only had my Rogue Chocolate Stout and a few other special ones that I picked up yesterday at Total Wine in the fridge. So glad that is past.

I had almost forgotten about Rogue and all their great beers until recently. My roommates and I used to get all the Rogue beers from this specialty distributor in Yonkers, NY when I lived there. We tried every one we could, and saved each of the cool bottles--I'm betting we had like 20 different ones lined up on the kitchen counter if memory serves me right.

Someone mentioned the Rogue beers to me a few months ago, which was a great reminder to get back on the Rogue plan and start drinking them again. So for today, Rogue Chocolate Stout brewed by Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon. I also opted for the 22 Oz. version. I mentioned the cool bottles, but what's also interesting is that they are very specific on the bottle about their ingredients and technical aspects of the beer.

My first impression is that this beer was given the exact right name. Wow, what a smooth chocolate flavor with each sip. It's like drinking a milk chocolate candy bar beer. It also has this creamy silky flavor and texture. And the aroma of chocolate and roasted nuts is awesome.
