Hoptical Illusion India Pale Ale

Are Obama and Chavez really best buddies now? Or was that a Hoptical Illusion? Ha! If you think that was corny, well, duh! But seriously, even Obama needs to see that he's being played by that dick. Enough politics.

I saw this story online about what to do when your kids eat things they shouldn't, like crayons or dirt or bugs. Seemed appropriate for me with 6 and 2 year olds at home. So I scrolled through the 16 pages of pictures, but didn't find the answer for cigarette butts. Now I can hear you thinking that I have dumb kids to eat those, but it was actually me that did that when I was 1 year old. My mom and the neighbor mom were playing tennis while I was playing with her 1.5 year old daughter in the corner of the court. Apparently that half of a year was enough for her to know better because as I was vomiting cigarette butts that night, she was sleeping soundly. Or maybe it was a boy/girl thing. Who knows?

Today I am drinking one of the beers that came back from my colleague's business trip to New York last week. Hoptical Illusion India Pale Ale brewed by Blue Point Brewing Company in Patchogue, Long Island, New York. Many thanks for the bring back!

This beer has a nice citrus and hoppy aroma. The flavors are more geared toward the citrus end of things, with a powerful lemon and grapefruit acidity and sourness (BTW, lemon juice takes the copper oxide off of pennies. Science fair project due Friday). For an IPA, I was expecting more hops bitterness than I got and wanted. There are some pine flavors too. This beer is more flat than crisp and the finish lets you know that there is a 6.8% alcohol content in there, like it or not. Overall, a good beer but not a great one.
