Lagunitas IPA India Pale Ale

Because of an upcoming NYC trip, I've been eyeing up a few different breweries that I think will have beers at the local Whole Foods in Manhattan. The main two unless you convince me otherwise are Victory Brewing Company and Sixpoint Craft Ales. Remember, this isn't my trip. So I need these beers to come back home.

My beer critic friend John LeMasney gave me some highlights about Victory Brewing when I asked him:

"Hi, Beer Drinker! Victory has seldom, if ever, disappointed me. My current favorite is Wild Devil, an IPA with a funky brett backbone. Hop Devil, Hop Wallop, Golden Monkey, Prima Pils, Victory Lager, and one of my all time favorites, Storm King Stout, are all Victory brews, and all killer."

So I'm left with prioritizing them and a few from Sixpoint for the return. Poor me!

I am still open for suggestions, too. So fire away.

Lagunitas IPA brewed by Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, California has an interesting quote on its label, something reminiscent of what the Arrogant Bastard's smarter, military-channel-watching little brother might say: "Thanks for choosing to spend the next few minutes with this special homicidally hoppy ale. Savor the moment as the raging hop character engages the Imperial Qualities of the Malt Foundation in mortal combat on the battlefield of your palate!" Well with that claim, I better get ready for Stone Ruination IPA Part 2.

This beer has a nice hoppy and floral aroma. There is also a nice bitter hops flavor, with some lemon and other citrus flavors as well, but I think that it's missing a good solid bite from the hops. A little sweet fruitiness also exists. Overall, it is a refreshing beer; however, it's a little weak for an IPA and there is zero aftertaste. So I guess that means I didn't have a beer yet and need another. It is good, though. Just not great, and not what I was led to expect.

I Love Lagunitas Keychain
