Hazed & Infused

There are some time-tested domestic squabbles that almost every household needs to go through. There is of course the famous one involving which direction the toilet paper should come off the roll, and I've heard some extremely funny arguments on both sides. For our house, whoever changes the roll gets to decide, and there are not really any arguments--I prefer over and my wife prefers under. And we're both (usually) too lazy to switch to our preference after that installation.

But recently I am winning another battle, maybe even the war soon. Toilet seat up or toilet seat down? I think most men get tired of hearing their wives complain about falling into the toilet and then just give in to the seat down demand, most of the time, when remembering. That's the way it happened for me, at least. But after caving, I always made sure that I closed the lid, too, just so she knew I wasn't happy about it. Consequently, that was good practice (putting the lid down) as both of my children went through phases where they liked to play in the toilet and throw stuff in the water. Thankfully that is over. But now, with my littlest one almost potty trained, the toilet seat stays up almost exclusively, including at least half the time from me. I am very proud of my two boys! And we haven't had any recent complaints about it, either. I guess there are bigger things to worry and complain about. But it's nice to win one.

I am now opening Hazed & Infused, a dry-hopped ale brewed by Boulder Beer Company in Boulder, Colorado. The cap tipped me off that they are in business since 1979. Congratulations! As far as the name goes: hazed--unfiltered and infused--with hops. This is also the first release into their Looking Glass Series of beers.

The aroma is hoppy, floral, with some citrus, but all are faint scents. There are very powerful hops and grapefruit flavors right out of the gate. It's a little sour and very lemony, and pretty bitter as well. Those flavors dissipate very quickly and you're left with a thin and watery beer. The carbonation is high and stands out as well. So in summary... Sip, bitter citrus blast, disappearance, pause. Repeat. It was OK but that's about it.

Hey there. Flying Dog is not available in my area at this time, but for sure there are better options at better prices.
