Today I'm drinking Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA brewed by Harpoon Brewery in either Boston, Massachusetts or Windsor, Connecticut. Leviathan is the name of a series of beers that Harpoon has launched, and if you're interested it's also an Old Testament Biblical monster, today used in Satanism as well. Nice!
There is a citrus and hoppy aroma, with sweet malts noticeable, too. You start out with powerful grapefruit and pine flavors, but those are quickly tempered with some sweet malty and caramel. The bitter eventually wins the battle, but this beer is definitely well balanced. The 9.3% alcohol makes a small presence and you notice it the more you drink of this beer. Bitter lasts a long time on your palate after you're done, too. And that sticky feeling also sticks around, I guess defining the word. I like my Imperial IPA's with a little bigger bite than this provided, but that doesn't mean I didn't think it was excellent. Delicious beer and you should try a few.
