There goes the neighborhood! I killed two cockroaches today, yet I went out of my way to capture a lizard and put him outside for another chance. Last weekend I blasted a wasp nest on my porch with that instant death spray. My wife has me deporting the frog population about half a mile away to the end of a nearby dead-end street. I have to shoot toward the pigeons on the roof with a Nerf dart gun before they start nest building up there. The ducks in my neighborhood are so ballsy that they will walk right in front of your moving car and stop. And it's not like I need a cat--the neighbor's cats prowl my yard every day, but I guess they are not very good at deterring all these nuisances from returning. And they have skills, as I've seen one chase and catch a bird in a tree. Maybe they are just lazy. What's a guy to do?
Today I'm drinking Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA brewed by Harpoon Brewery in either Boston, Massachusetts or Windsor, Connecticut. Leviathan is the name of a series of beers that Harpoon has launched, and if you're interested it's also an Old Testament Biblical monster, today used in Satanism as well. Nice!
There is a citrus and hoppy aroma, with sweet malts noticeable, too. You start out with powerful grapefruit and pine flavors, but those are quickly tempered with some sweet malty and caramel. The bitter eventually wins the battle, but this beer is definitely well balanced. The 9.3% alcohol makes a small presence and you notice it the more you drink of this beer. Bitter lasts a long time on your palate after you're done, too. And that sticky feeling also sticks around, I guess defining the word. I like my Imperial IPA's with a little bigger bite than this provided, but that doesn't mean I didn't think it was excellent. Delicious beer and you should try a few.
