Black Fly Stout

While I was in Colombia, I went to Panaca Sabana, which is basically a giant county or state fair that never ends. However, unlike a fair, you won't find the games or rides or food vendors or... Wait, you won't find that much fun either. It's basically a big farm with a handful of shows that are, well, kind've stupid!

It cost around $13 each to get in, too, so my disappointment was amplified as I was watching seven pigs race around an oval, watching sheep shit and passing up the opportunity to milk a cow by myself. There was a funny sign that once translated said, "Don't take Viagra, drink goat's milk!" or something to that effect. Apparently people think goat's milk is good for virility! If the family's plan when you visit is to go to this barnyard, ask to be dropped off at the casino on the way. That's my recommendation.

Today I'm drinking Black Fly Stout brewed by Gritty McDuff's Brewing Company in Portland, Maine. The aroma is full of chocolate and coffee with a twist of black licorice in there too. You start out with lots of roasted coffee and chocolate flavors. Maybe some caramel flavors as well. As the beer warms, there is a light smokiness that becomes more noticeable. This beer has a nice creamy texture. Light body, and a little thin; medium carbonation. You start out slightly sweet and end with a dry finish. Easy drinking for sure. Overall, the flavors are very good, and I'd certainly pick this beer up again.
