Is it time for bed yet? Got up this morning and got ready for our community's annual holiday three-hour get-together. Sucked. Got one cold hot dog and a bag of soggy popcorn before we left 30 minutes later. Then we went to Toys 'R' Us so the kids could help think about what they'd like to ask Santa for, so they could make letters to Santa. When we left there 30 minutes later, both kids were crying because they couldn't take a toy with them. I have raised two ingrates, I suppose.
Finally on my own, I went to Publix for some food. There was a chick trying to push Polar beer on me. I guess the deal was $8.59 for a 12 pack and I would get a Polar t-shirt as well. I could have agreed and dropped off the (bad) Polar somewhere else in the store, to get the shirt, but that would have been dishonest. Perhaps if she was a little hotter OR if she spoke a little better English, she could have convinced me. But in the end I walked out with a sixer of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale.
Today I'm drinking Mama's Little Yella Pils, a Pilsner brewed by Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, Colorado. This is another beer from them in a can in case you haven't heard about them. The can also says "GOLD METAL WINNER" (yep, METAL) which I am guessing refers to this beer and not the brewery, but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time today! Heck, I'm too lazy to go check out the award thing anyway. The label also says "PACK IT IN, PACK IT OUT" whatever that means.
Aroma is grainy with a little hops, pretty dull. Lemon and citrus flavors start you out, but it wont be long before you notice a sharp and harsh carbonation bite. There are some grassy and earthy flavors to this beer as well, but in the end, it's a basic pilsner with all the tastes you're used to, including light skunk. My least favorite from this brewery by far.
