Phin & Matt's Extraordinary Ale

Do any of you like the Muppets? Are you old enough? I might have seen this posting before at the List of the Day blog, but I was cracking up all over again this afternoon. Muppets paired with their celebrity look-alikes. Some are just extraordinary likenesses, which you'll see apparently goes with today's beer.

Tonight I'm drinking Phin & Matt's Extraordinary Ale brewed by Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood, New York. Cool red, white and blue label design. Stands out, which is two winning designs in a row for this brewery! And I know they were looking for my personal stamp of approval!

You start out with a nice little fruity orange aroma, floral and hoppy, too. Fruity orange and pineapple flavors start things off. The flavors are hoppy, yet not bitter. Some herbal and earthy and grainy flavors also are a major part of the profile. Dry finish, slightly Band-Aid off flavors are left behind. Crisp and refreshing. Not awesome, but not bad!

The Muppet Show was in production from 76-81, but reruns were commonly on the air well through the mid to late 80s.

I was just going through my filing cabinet two nights ago organizing, and found the Muppet Drinking Game I wrote with some friends in college (by that point we were watching the show on commemorative DVD). I tossed it, but it included "drink two when Kermit goes 'YAAAAAYYYYY,'" and "Waterfall when piggy flirts."

Wow, VB. A Muppet drinking game! I'm pretty sure we didn't go to college together. LOL.
