Vanilla Java Porter

You might have heard that today is Dr. Seuss's 106th birthday. You heard right! I have read Cat in the Hat about 20 times in the last 30 days, so when I heard his name this morning, it made me chuckle. One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. Green Eggs and Ham. Hop on Pop. Some other tongue twisters. The list goes on and on and on.

What are your two favorites? Forced to choose, I pick Oh, the Places You'll Go! and Horton Hears a Who.

Tonight I'm drinking Vanilla Java Porter brewed by Atwater Block Brewery in Detroit, Michigan. You may recall the other beer I had from this brewery about a month ago, although I am trying to forget Voodoo Vator. The label has a coffee mug and says "Wake Up & Smell the Beer!" and "Open It!"

Wow! Vanilla extract covering some chocolate scents. Like a bakery. Oh no! This is just wrong! Way way way way way way way way way too much vanilla along with some herbal tea, cough medicine, bitterness and big carbonation. At the very end, there is a touch of roasted coffee. That's it. Sorry I could not finish this. Terrible! "Robust Porter"??? No freakin' way!

Yeah, this one was ugly. Luckily for us, they don't ship this down to Florida.
