Gordon Biersch Marzen

Opening Day 2010 for Baseball season today. I am NOT going to argue with you that yesterday was opening day. There was a game, no doubt. I own two of the Red Sox stars on my Fantasy team, so I am aware. I am of course talking about Phillies Opening Day, the only one that matters. Sure the other teams need to show up for entertainment value, but we all know who is World Series bound.

The Phillies destroyed the Nationals 11-1 this afternoon behind (another of my Fantasy stars) Roy Halladay. This guy is awesome. And what better person to hit the first home of the Phils season than Ryan Howard? Great start!

Today I'm drinking Gordon Biersch Marzen brewed by Gordon Biersch Brewing Company in San Jose, California. Bottled on 6/29/09. Nice. Grainy, nutty, caramel, sweet aroma. Bread, grain and sweet flavors start things out. Nice medium body. A bit toasty, too. This beer is buttery smooth, flavor- and texture-wise. There is a good hops balance cutting the initial sweetness. Crisp, clean, and nice flavors. I could drink this all day at The Vet! Nice beer.

I do love a good, malty Oktoberfest style... I'll have to look around and see if this is available.

Hannah. I was kind've being "droll" (as a guy called me the other day) when I put the "bottled on date" from last June.

I am not a huge believer that is a giant factor (my Tylenol at home expired in 11/2006, too).

So you will likely find this beer but in June 2010. LOL. I've had mine since a trip to Orlando last August.
