Hop Wallop

This is just a teaser, but these are on an airplane in Washington, DC right now, just about ready to take off. Please take a moment and say a little prayer for their safe arrival tonight here in Florida. I posted a picture below where my buddy bought these, but I will be doing a post soon that lets you know who all the awesome people are that made this beer scavenger hunt go down so smoothly. (And the ones that got in the way or didn't lift a finger or needed me to poke them with cattle prod to get some information).

Tonight I am repeating a beer that I had back in October of last year, Hop Wallop brewed by Victory Brewing Company in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. This is a "Very Hoppy Ale [brewed] For Your Taste". Enjoy by January 19, 2011.

Tangerine + Pine = A Weird Tree, or actually the aroma for this beer, beautiful. The flavors start out fruity, sweet, but it's hard to pick out any particular fruit, a bit muddled. A strong pine flavor joins in next, followed by a sharp little grapefruit and lemon citrus bitter bite. Fairly smooth with medium carbonation. The 8.5% alcohol is noticeable as well, which, along with some bitter drying action toward the end, becomes a fairly big turn-off. I liked this much better in Round One than tonight. What can I say? Make up your own mind!

Great review! I am going to have to get some of this here in Colorado and try it for myself.

Thanks a lot. I really do like the Victory lineup, but I've had a few bumps along the way.

For sure check them out!
