Cut the grass, or as my neighbors like to call it, my weed garden (they don't say it to my face). But one thing they don't have going for them is the two awesome Gardenia bushes that I have just starting to bloom. The fragrance made the gasoline exhaust of my shitty disposable lawn mower smell like, well, flowers. Shave. Shower. Grocery list (making that list is a horrible weekly event in my house). Hair cut. Gas. Publix. McDonalds.
Then my wife fell asleep for a while. I am not sure why but I think it had to do with her happy hoursssss. So I decided to take advantage of that nap and review a Dubbel beer in preparation for a review trade I'm doing during my buddy Laurie's newest challenge. Yes, I know she's cute. But let me tell you that she is super smart, very sweet, and has earned her Queen of Brett title! So I'm working on refining that review, but look for it soon.
Then I put out an APB for my son. I eventually found him on the porch of the neighborhood cop with his classmate. How ironic! At which point we hit the pool. It was so f-ing hot today and the pool was spectacular, except for the other kids, but even they were OK. My three year old is really starting to swim and it's so exciting! BBQ, corn on the cob, macaroni salad. And now I am sitting here in only biker shorts, what I wear under my bathing suit. I'm sure you are very happy with that image!!!
Finally, for tonight's review, I'm drinking New DogTown Pale Ale brewed by Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, California. "But Beer Drinker, you just reviewed that back on March 13 of this year." Indeed I did, and thank you for noticing. You probably also saw how spectaculicious I thought it was at that time, and when I proceeded to name it #2 in my Top Five of March listing. I wont repeat all the bottle chatter you can find on my posting from a few months ago but this is "Still Doggone Good".
The aroma is excellent. Tropical sweet fruit, juicy, juicy, juicy, juicy, juicy, juicy, juicy, juicy. The flavors are similar but slightly different. Plenty of orange starts you out, but a hit of pine along with some light spicy black pepper makes things interesting. Caramel flavors hide out in the background and give some balance. The fruits are everywhere, explosive! The finish is a little drier with a touch from the alcohol. This is one hopped up Pale Ale, like an A-Rod or Mark McGwire. I suggest you drop what you're doing, unless you are an air traffic controller, and go buy some of this beer now!
