Saranac Summer Brew

Three-year old became four-year old today. He had a party at his school with cupcakes and crafts and singing, came home super happy. We're going to open some presents and cut a cake in a little bit. Should be a nice evening!

Tonight I'm drinking Saranac Summer Brew brewed by Matt Brewing Company in Utica, New York. The label suggests they are taking a lesson from Europeans, who for over 100 years have combined lager with lemonade for a summer refreshment. The label depicts a bear with shades (which he needed with my flash photography, below) lounging in his Adirondack chair with a pint of this beverage.

Bright lemon with grainy lageresque aroma. Very tart lemon starts each and every sip. Some grain and corn and honey try to balance that lemon, but end up keeping this a little to much on the sweet side. After a few sips, the lemon jolt at the beginning starts to feel a little fake, like a lemon drop candy. Still, it was mostly refreshing. What can I say? Lemonadey and at 3.5% alcohol, a non-beer-drinker's dream.

They might make an album today with some of the pictures they took yesterday, but the main one that came home was a crown decorated with stickers and artwork.

But, hey, if you really want to see a picture, I'll see what I can do. LOL.

"non-beer drinker" being the operative term here. Looks a little too girly for me...but then, my "session" beer is a 7% ABV.

Yes, Marie. You were NOT one of the friends I had in mind as I was drinking this beer.

If you really like lemons, Try it. You'll like it. (That's a YoGabbaGabba song).

Not only do I want a picture, I want to see you wearing the crown!

How about this? I will try to find the crown, I think it's ripped but still exists. My wife throws that kind of thing away, understandably. I will keep it hidden from her wrath until the Flyers win the Cup! THEN I will put on the crown for a photo!

I guess that will do...

When your Flyers get wrecked by Chicago, I'll be bummed.
