Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland. I originally reviewed this last October. The label depicts a scary dog in a diaper. It's just about to toss down two mugs of beer, glass and all. The story on the back of the label talks about big bitter IPA's and compares this beer to those with the exception that "[Flying Dog had] the common courtesy to finish [the beer] with a well-balanced, rich and full body, complete with a hint of sweetness". Vintage 10GG.
Hoppy with pine resin; grapefruit, orange, citrus, floral aroma: quite powerful and inviting! Big grapefruit and orange rind bitter start right out of the gate, quite the little bitter bitch! Lots of pine flavors as well. Malty caramel, with a great balancing sweetness then moves in, just like they said it would. There is an oily texture which completely covers your mouth. The 11.5% alcohol is not noticeable except for a persistent, yet not harsh, little burn and and warmth afterward. Creamy, good body, nicely carbonated. A long and lingering bitterness, well, lingers for a long time! If you bothered to read my review linked above from last October, which I just did, it seems as if I were drinking another beer. Amazing. I was probably pissed off that day or something! I really enjoyed this and you will too! Finally, IBU: 85... that one's for you Marie!
Again, no pictures. Can't find the camera and if I ask the wife where it is, she's gonna say... "why, so you can take pictures of beer bottles?" I think I'll not deal with that today! BTW, why don't every single one of you readers do me a favor and leave a comment today. Google tells me how many of you read this and how long it took you to do so, so even if you say "this is stupid" or "double dog bite me" go right ahead. I want to hear what is on your mind. Come on, it'll take less than a minute.
