The Saint Louis Brewery in Saint Louis, Missouri. Yeah, I know. Talk about having ginormous balls to open a brewery in Bud's back yard! But that, I totally respect! This is Beer 3 from Trade 2 with Marathon Marie. She's been doing some deep thinking lately so let her know what you think. The label for this beer is simple with the beer brand centered amongst a thriving bunch of hop buds. Bottled With Love on 01 11 2010 is prominently displayed on the front of the label. More breweries should do that.
Well, I popped off the cap. I went to get that first sniff right away, you know the one. What I got was about an ounce of beer up my nose, foam form of course. Yeah, despite days of relaxation in my fridge, this beer had quite the interest in leaving the bottle. No, I didn't shake it up, but thanks for asking.
Lemony and hoppy aroma. Pine and plenty of orange and lemon rind citrus flavors are the main attraction, quite bitter up front. You kind of ease into that for a moment and are then approached by some sweet honey and bread flavors, stepping up for a bit of balance. Crisp and refreshing, nicely bitter overall. The carbonation is sharp and high, yet is just fine. Your finish will be fairly dry. This is a hop-forward American Pale Ale. It's simple, but I liked it and could easily drink several more. But I can't because it's not available in Florida. Next time I hit the Tundra!
