Rotator IPA Series X-114 IPA

Today I'm drinking Rotator IPA Series X-114 IPA brewed by Widmer Brothers Brewing in Portland, Oregon. The label states that "The 'X' Stands For Awesome." So at least we know that part. It appears that this will be the standard label for four different beers in the series. Each are named on the label, with the one in the bottle underlined and its name stamped in the Profile Box. X-114 is first followed by Teaser IPA, Shaddock IPA and Collaboration IPA. These dudes need some artist working for them to add some interest to their normally solid beers. Presentation matters. Bottled April 25, 2011.

Fruity aroma, a little tropical with a touch of spicy black pepper as well. Nice bitter start with some great orange citrus leading the way. Lots of pine comes next and it's very dry. A good dose of fruit does bring back some balance, but the fresh, floral, hoppy goodness wins out here overall. Just a little spicy at the end. Great carbonation, dry finish, good and lasting aftertaste. The 6.2% alcohol wasn't really that noticeable but seemed to play a role in the beer's dryness. Tasty! I liked it!

I thought it was decent. Dissapointed they retired the Broken Halo, The first IPA I hated... Though, I did not really like beer at the time So I wanted to give it another chance.

I never tried Broken Halo. I am glad they started this series off with a solid IPA. Makes me interested in trying the others to come.
