Today I'm drinking Widmer Hefeweizen brewed by Widmer Brothers Brewing in Portland, Oregon. Bottle label = boring. It does say, "The Brother of Invention" and "Uncompromised and Unfiltered" if those phrases float your boat. Bottled May 25, 2011.
Powerful spicy banana and wheat aroma. Bananas and wheat are also the main and dominant flavors to start things off. The wheat also provides some textural interest, yet this beer still seems a little thin. Cloves and other accent spices are also present. But the spices run together with some unpleasant metallic lemony bitterness, making a jumble that I didn't really enjoy. Carbonation is OK, but it just brings you to the end where you finish with a bad aftertaste. Not horrible but not that good, either. Pass.
