Wasatch Summerbrau Lager

Today I'm drinking Wasatch Summerbrau Lager brewed by the Utah Brewers Cooperative in Salt Lake City, Utah. The label depicts a simple mountain lake scene. The back label talks a little about the beer, including something about a "blitzkrieg of hops". This beer was a sample provided to me by the brewery. Born 07/18/11.

Oops, the bottle rim cracked off. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty much a bottle opening expert and did nothing differently to this one. Oh well. Fuck it. I'm gonna drink it anyway. Carefully brushed off the glass bits.

Light grainy and toasted aroma, very faint. Grainy sweet flavors to start but plenty of hoppy bitterness right behind that to balance. Some light fruity apple shows through and a hefty dose of vegetal and grassy flavors dominates toward the end. The carbonation is high and very harsh against the palate, like almost too-tough-to-swallow harsh. The finish is lemony and bitter and dried by the 5.6% alcohol. Despite that harsh carbonation, this beer wasn't bad, though I'd certainly go for something else next time.
