Bell's Christmas Ale

I didn't think I was going to get a review in today. But the wife went to a neighbor's house and the kids are doing "weekend homework". LOL. Nice job, Mrs. Smith (not her real name). I love you!

I decided to check out Bell's Christmas Ale brewed by Bell's Brewery in Comstock, Michigan. I couldn't remember if I had this beer before, but it seems not since I can't find any review. The label depicts a decorated Christmas tree in the middle of a barley field with nothing around for miles. Alone for Christmas! Such sad imagery! There is a little story on the back about a gift of cheer, or something like that. Bottled on 10/13/11A.

Caramel with some spice and fruity peach aroma. Very malty flavors to start. Caramel and toffee flavors play badminton with some buttered biscuits and fruits. Back and forth until you realize you're in a tangy holiday tournament. Cinnamon and other spices offer some additional interest as well.

Not sweet, rather balanced by a good dose of hoppy citrus. The fruits are richer than expected, plums and cherries. High carbonation is prickly. Body is medium. Not a bad beer. Check it out.
