Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale

Today I'm drinking Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale brewed by The Boston Beer Company in Boston, Cincinnati or Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. I checked this out last year too as it seems to be a permanent member of their Winter 12 Pack. Same label, depicting a scene from Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Unfortunately that means that the enormous banners are covering the entire work of art. Hopefully Sam will change that as they have done with some of their newer offerings. Enjoy Before May.

Brown sugar, molasses and cinnamon aroma. Caramel and brown sugar flavors are very dominant in the beginning, quite malty. Orange nuances add some fruity interest as well. As the malts subside, you will taste a healthy dose of cinnamon and mixture of other spices, along with some hints of vanilla.

Carbonation is fairly high and enjoyably prickly. Nice flavors. Well balanced and not sweet at all. The 5.9% alcohol is faintly noticeable, especially toward the end. Good offering for the Winter Warmer style and a nice part of the Sam Winter offerings.
