Today I'm drinking Aventinus, a wheat-doppelbock brewed by Private WeissBier-Brauerei Georg Schneider & Sohn in Kelheim, Bavaria, Germany. Ugh, my spell-check HATES me! Nice label, shiny purple catches your eye, with some bearded dude in the center of it. I will say, however, that the presentation is due for an upgrade. The back tells a short story and sets your expectations, finishing by naming this "the massive twin of Schneider Weisse".

Big Head. I tried to control it, too, but what you see is what you get! Banana, pears, bubble gum drenched in alcohol, and a little spicy aroma. So far, so good. Fruity flavor beginning, though surprisingly not very much banana to speak of. Instead, there are more sweet oranges and juicy cherries and thick pears.

The 8.2% alcohol is also pretty noticeable but in a way to accent the fruits and do some palate cleansing. The alcohol also provided a decent warmth in the chest throughout the entire bottle. There is a touch of that bubble gum and some spicy and black peppery flavor toward the end. The spice and alcohol do a decent job of cutting in the initial sweetness of the beer.

Wheaty texture becomes apparent after drinking around half the bottle, when all the flavors start to grow on you. That leads into a very pleasant aftertaste, full of wheat and fruits. Quite enjoyable. Now, let's see how enjoyable my Little League Boss, the Commish, thinks I am in this evening's meeting. LOL.

I really like this beer. Part of the downside of always chasing new beers is that you don't spend enough time enjoying the ones that you love. At least that's been my experience. Nice review, how did it go with the Commish? :)

That is totally the deal. Drinking so many different beers cuts into repeating on the great ones. Honestly, though, for this one, I prefer Victory Moonglow.

As for meeting with the boss, it was me and 6 other coaches picking teams for this season's 6U baseball. My team kick's ass, I think. And I just chewed gum to hide the alcoholic banana breath. LOL
