Vunderbar! Pilsner
I saw Smuttynose Vunderbar! Pilsner on clearance the other day, and based on its Beer Advocate grades, grabbed four six packs for $4 each. I guess in New Hampshire they have seasons or something, but it is 95°F here today! The label depicts an old photgraph of a middle-aged German couple in some fancy festival clothes, beer steins in hand.
Crisp, lemony aroma, a little grainy and spicy too. Very pleasant. Nice toasted grain flavor nicely balanced with a lemony bitterness. Some grassy flavors too. But that's it. Simple and flavorful. Nice carbonation adds a little sharpness. Crisp, clean and refreshing. Good call, BA!
