Romantic Chemistry IPA

For 2016, Dogfish Head replaced Aprihop with Romantic Chemistry IPA as their new spring seasonal. I really like Aprihop so I have high hopes for this new beer, brewed with mangos, apricots and ginger.

Along with a new year of seasonal beers comes a new seasonal artist. For their 8th year doing an art series, Dogfish had artist Drew Millward create fresh posters and beer labels. BTW, I've already confirmed Drew will sign his label art for another contest later this year. The Romantic Chemistry label is sort of an abstract creature holding an apricot and peach. 7.2% alcohol.

Aroma is subtle but is very fruity with some noticeable ginger. Fruity flavors to start, sweet and tropical, yet hard to pinpoint any specific fruit. Juicy and pleasant, with a tangy streak through it. Lots of ginger can be found on the back end and into the finish, also left lingering on the palate after each sip. That ginger builds throughout as well, putting the experience near the "too gingery line."

A little alcohol dryness. Definitely interesting, and for sure what you'd probably expect from a Dogfish beer. But again, I really like Aprihop. This one was just OK and didn't make me want to love it. Let me know what you think.
