Calliope Tart Cherry Lemon Shandy

Largo's Barley Mow Brewing sent their Calliope Tart Cherry Lemon Shandy into distribution in Southeast Florida. The name sounds innocent enough, nicely representing an "outdoorsy" woman pictured on the can label.

However, reading the story on the back of the can, you will soon find out this beer theme follows the trend many of Barley Mow's brews. Calliope is a woodland fairy that feeds on the blood of unicorns! And the model depicting Calliope is a Largo woman that goes by Mayven Missbehavin! Nice!

This is Barley Mow's summer seasonal, though I don't think they have seasons on the West Coast of Florida either. 4% alcohol. 10 IBU. Pair with grilled root vegetables, rhubarb pie, and enchanted forests!

Light fruity tart aroma, really had to work for it. Light malty sweetness to start is hit with some sharp lemon. Cherry tartness takes each sip to the finish and lingers in the aftertaste. Flavors are fairly muted all around. Great story but I was expecting more. Was OK.
