GWAR BEER Oderus Ale
GWAR BEER Oderus Ale from Cigar City! Honestly, after reading the site and the other links, I don't have a fucking clue what this beer is about. My "Canned 07/19/16" pounder can says this special batch was brewed exclusively for the 6th Annual GWAR B-Q in Richmond, VA. Well, the website says it was for the 7th Annual Festival. Also, "exclusively" is pretty much bullshit considering I bought it in a Miami Total Wine store. So what is the story?
The can doesn't give any hint what style beer to expect. Not sure what "Hail Oderus Urungus" means. Strange cartoonish monster-brain art. Looking around the internets, I guess this is a pale ale. 5.6% alcohol. 53 IBU. Go GWAR Yourself!
Citrus, orange, tangy, acidic aroma, interesting. Very tangy flavors, with bright candied lemons standing out. Sharp on the palate, spicy, acidic. Dry finish. If it's a pale ale, it's a pale ale with some mega balls. The beer is the best part of this for sure! Interesting for sure despite what I'd say is an extremely weak presentation!
