Great Beyond Double IPA

Cooperstown, NY. Future home to Pete Rose's many records and jerseys and the longest-ass speech that came decades too late! But I digress...

Cooperstown is also the home of the Brewery Ommegang and their newest beer, Great Beyond Double IPA. This is the first Double IPA the brewery has ever made as they are known for creating Belgian-style masterpieces. I'm surprised they even found the key to the American yeast refrigerator!

There's a little story titled Where Heaven Met Earth and Stayed Awhile on the back label to set the tone (you can read it below). Best By 4/2017. 8.8% alcohol. 83 IBU.

Great aroma full of pine and citrus and resin with hints of tropical fruit and spiciness. Big fruity and juicy to start. CRUSH! That was what your palate felt when a huge dose of pine and resin came along and created a more bitter environment!

But then more fruitiness to the rescue. Orange, tangerine, citrus and tropical. Marmalade. Hoppy and spicy and bitter into the finish. Nice flavors. Dangerous ABV.

Sweet, spicy, hoppy, piney contrast and complement at the same time. Check it out!
