Cracked open a can of Karbach Brewing's Mother-in-Lager this afternoon. I asked my wife if she got the joke in the name. Eyes rolled. Coincidentally, mi suegra has been visiting during these holidays, so I asked her to check out the beer too. And she NEVER tries any of my beers when here.
Turns out this beer reminded her of some malt drink in Colombia and she LOVED it! She drank the whole can! The story on the can is hilarious, talking about "the woman who brings a big serving of judgment to every occasion." My mother-in-law isn't like that at all, but pretty funny still. I posted the story below. Crafted 10/17/17. 5.8% alcohol. 25 IBU
Dark bread, roasty aroma. Roast, bitter coffee to start but that's really greeted by a very malty base. Caramel, brown bread, malty, hints of smoke, tiny bit nutty. For me, was an OK beer but I guess "She's Back!" So the only beer my mother-in-law ever drank with me is named Mother-in-Lager and she loved it!?!?!
"What can you say about the woman who brings a big serving of judgment to every occasion? Sometimes it’s best to say nothing at all. Mother-in-Lager recognizes those who have shown glimpses of sweetness through their otherwise bitter exterior and feels for those who have to put up with it. Brewed with dark malts and German hops, this brew's depth of flavor will allow you to relax and bite your tongue while she reorganizes your entire kitchen. So grab a 6’er of Mother-in-Lager and be prepared for the next time she comes to visit!
Aww who are we kidding? No matter what she may say or do, we still love her!"
