The Brooklyn Brewery in Utica, New York. You might remember me professing my love on two occasions back in the 09-10 season. Nice bottle presentation. Good price too.
Since last year, I learned two tidbits of information about this beer. First, I learned that one bottle has 320 calories! Ugh! Oof! So it better be fabulous, right?!? The second piece of information is much more interesting and likable. This was the beer that Brooklyn Brewmaster Garrett Oliver took with him to his "interview" with the brewery back in 1994. How do I know that? Our local representative has worked with the brewery since before Garrett was even around and told me the story, and Garrett confirmed it that same evening. How cool!
Mostly a rich chocolate aroma, but with some coffee in the background. WOW! Rich, milky, silky smooth, chocolate loveliness! Marry me? Follow that up with some dark cherry cordials smothered in more chocolate and now you're beginning to get the picture. Not sweet, though. (Not bitter either). Next come hints of roasted coffee from every direction. Hello 10.0% alcohol with your beautiful warmth and welcome burn! Vanilla? Yep. Light licorice? You bet your ass. Fabulous. Creamy, low to medium carbonation, elegant. Nice coffee flavors are left behind. Did I like it? Yep. However... This Is My Love... We're engaged. Stay away!
